NCBS-TIFR M.Sc.-Ph.D. Admissions 2011-12

The National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS) and Department of Biological Sciences (DBS) are located respectively in Bangalore and Mumbai centers of Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR). Both institutes are working to promote research in basic sciences and engineering and medicine. NCBS and DBS are conducting highly specialised and innovative Post Graduate and Research Programmes for which admission notification is announced for the years 2011-12. Selection to all the progrmas will be made based on merit in written test and interview. Following are particulars of programs:

1. PhD: Offered at NCBS and DBS.
2. Integrated PhD: Conducted at NCBS and DBS
3. M.Sc. by Research: Offered only at DBS, Mumbai
4. iBio: Offered only at NCBS, Bangalore.

Eligibility for PhD programe: Applicants should have Masters in Basic Science or Bachelors in Applied Science. Those with M.Sc. (Agriculture), B.Tech/ B.E., B.V.Sc. B.Pharma, MBBS., BDS., M.Pharma are also eligible.

For Integrated Ph.D. and M.Sc. by Research Programme: You need Bachelors Degree in any Basic Science. Candidates those expect to complete degree by July 2011 are also eligible to apply.

You can apply either online or offline. You can obtain application by sending a request and an self addressed envelope with Rs. 5 stamp affixed on it. You need not pay any fee to get application. But filled in applications should enclose a DD towards application fee of Rs. 500 (For online) and Rs. 550 (or offline). Last date for receipt of applications at "Admission Section, National Centre for Biological Sciences, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, GKVK, Bellary Road, Bangalore- 560 065" on or before 16th October 2010.
