TIFR Post Graduate Internship Program 2011

Here is an excellent opportunity for Engineering Graduates interested in exciting career in the field of Astronomy. The National Center for Radio Astrophysics, a part of reputed TIFR, Pune is inviting applications for Post Graduate Internship Program in Radio Astronomy. Duration of the program is one year and will start from August 2011. This program is intended to motivate Engineering students to take up research and career in Radio Astronomy. NCRA operates Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope, largest radio interferometer in the world. Selection will be based on merit in Written examination and interview.

The Internship program consist of courses in Physics at the Masters level. Training will also be imparted in Computation, data analysis, astrophysics and radio astronomy. After successful completion of the Internship Program, candidates have to undergo an entrance examination. Those qualified in this entrance test will be eligible for research in NCRA leading to Ph.D. Program.

Eligibility Requirements: Students completing their BE/ B.Tech. by August 2011 are eligible to apply for this internship programme. Candidates can apply online through ncra.tifr.res.in . Last date for receipt of online application and referee forms is 1st October 2010. The written test will be conducted on 22 December 2010. Short listed candidates will be called for an interview on 22 / 23 December 2010.
