NID Admissions 2011-12 for Design Courses

National Institute of Design is a prestigious educational and research institution for courses in Industrial, Communication, Textile and IT Integrated (Experiential) Design. NID is an autonomous institution under the aegis of Government of India. NID offers Graduate and Post Graduate Programs in various design related disciplines. It has campuses at Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar and Bengaluru. Interested candidates can download application forms from NID’s official website www.nid.edu/downloads. Filled in forms should be sent along with a DD of Rs 1500/- drawn in favour of ‘National Institute of Design’. Application forms can also available at select branches of Bank of India on payment of the above fee and additional bank charges. Following are Campus -wise courses:

1. Main Campus, Ahmedabad: Product Design / Furniture and Interior Design / Ceramic and Glass Design / Graphic Design / Animation Film Design / Film and Video Communication / Textile Design / Exhibition Design.
2. PG Campus, Gandhinagar: Transportation and Automobile Design / Toy and Game Design/ Photography Design / Apparel Design and Merchandising / Lifestyle Accessory Design / New Media Design / Strategic Design Management.
3. R and D campus Bangalore: Information and Interface Design / Design For Digital Experience/ Design For Retail Experience.

NID shall conduct National level entrance exams for both UG and PG Admissions for 2011-12. Following are dates of the exam:
1. Design Aptitude Test for PGDPD (at all centres) : 8 January, 2011 (Number of seats : 100, Duration is two and half years.)
2. National Entrance Exam For Design for GDPD (at all centres): 9 January, 2011. (Number of seats: 245, Duration is 4 years)

Eligibility for both the programmes is any graduation. NID offers various scholarship schemes for disadvantaged candidates. Full fee wavers also available under schemes offered by NID, Ford Foundation and Government of India.
