UGC PG Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Single Girl Child 2010-12

University Grants Commission is inviting applications for Post-Graduate Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Single Girl Child for PG academic session 2010-12. This has been introduced from 2005-06 with purpose of supporting higher education to single girl child and also as an incentive to to observe small family norm. The scholarship scheme is for non-professional courses only at Post Graduation level only. Regular, full time courses only eligible for this scheme. Distance mode of courses are not covered.

Eligibility Requirements: Any Single Girl Child who is the only child of her parents is eligible under this scholarship scheme. She must have taken admission in first year of a Master’s Degree in any non-professional programme of a recognised university or a PG college during 2010-11. Amount of Scholarship is Rs. 2000/ per month. Duration of Scholarship is 2 years (for 10 months in a year for a total of 20 months.
Number of Scholarships per year: 1200

Those awarded this PG Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Single Girl Child will not be debarred from accepting any other scholarship. Any student who discontinues the studies without prior acceptance of UGC will have to refund the whole amount of scholarship and concerned college will be responsible for this refund. Student must submit an affidavit on Rs.50/- Stamp Paper from SDM / First Class Magistrate / Gazetted Officers (not below the rank of Tehsildar) conforming that she is the only child in her family.

Application Procedure: Eligible candidates pursuing PG 1st year course in the year 2010-2011 may submit their applications in the prescribed format. The application may be submitted to the 'Under Secretary (SR-III), University Grants Commission, Bahadurshah Zafar Marg, New Delhi -110002' within 30 days from the date of publication of this advertisement in Newspapers. It was published on Times of India dated 23-10-2010. Last date will be calculated from the date of publication of this advertisement in the Employment News / Rojgar Samachar.
