AP Open School Society- Intermediate Admissions December 2010

The Government of Andhra Pradesh has come up with a novel programme to increase enrollment in Intermediate Education. The Primary Education Minister Sailaja Nath announced that newly established Andhra Pradesh Open School Society (Andhra Pradesh Sarvatrika Vidya Peetham - APOSS) will provide Intermediate Education through Distance Mode. The course will commence from January / February 2011. Students can pursue MBiPC Courses (Maths, Biology, Physics and Chemistry) through this programme. The MBiPc course is not available in regular mode in junior colleges in the state. The Open School System will be useful for tenth class drop outs and those not able to pursue regular intermediate education for various reasons. Following are other details and features of Open School Society Admissions:

1. The Intermediate Course will be conducted in Telugu, English and Urdu mediums.
2. Admission fee for OC candidates is Rs. 1100
3. Admission fee for reserved category students is Rs. 800. (SC/ ST/ OBC/ PH/ Ex-Servicemen/ Women / Minority Candidates)
4. Apart from these candidates have to pay examination fee of Rs. 150 for each subject.
5. All candidates have to pay registration fee of Rs. 200.

Those completed 10th class/ SSC and above 15 years of age can apply for Intermediate through OSS (Open School Society). Last date for receipt of applications is 31st December 2010. Exams will be conducted during November 2011 for those registered before December 2010.

Structure of the Course: The important objective of the programme is bringing Intermediate education to the door steps of poor and drop out students. Classes will be conducted in study centers at every mandal on every second Saturdays and Sundays along with public holidays. 40 teaching classes and practical will be conducted for each subject. The Government also assured that the certificates issued by Open School Society are valid, recognized by the government and those students will be eligible for higher courses and employment opportunities.

The Course will be administered through 1119 High Schools and 300 Junior Colleges across the state and these will be treated as study centers of OSS. K. Anand Kishore has been appointed as Director of AP Open School Society.
