The initiation has come up from the Government after various student and teacher bodies demanded for quick action on the syllabus front as students from the state will loss with NEET in the present form. To keep students abreast of national and international standards in tune with the center's guidelines, both the courses of Intermediate are under revision. The syllabus change was originally scheduled a year ago after the five year period, irrespective of the NEET being conducted by the Medical Council of India (MCI).
The process of revising syllabus has been expedited in view of the need for preparing the students for NEET from 2014-15. The Government of Andhra Pradesh has requested the Central Government to postpone the implementation of NEET for Andhra Pradesh for two years after considering demands from various quarters of education field. It is understood that the final touches were being given by experts for first year Intermediate course and changed syllabus will come into force from 2012-13. New syllabus for Second year students will be implemented from 2014-15.
