IBM Research Contest Awards 2011 for KMIT Students

Hyderabad, November 16: Mohana Krishna and Kalyan Venkatesh of Keshav Memorial Institute of Technology (KMIT) have won the ‘The Great Mind Challenge 2010' contest organized by IBM India. This is a nation wide software development and research contest in which about 1.5 lakh students participated. It is estimated that about 3000 projects were submitted for the competition. The ‘KMIT Chargers' of Keshav Memorial Institute of Technology and Science, Narayanaugda, Hyderabad were declared winners of the prestigious contest. Mohana Krishna nd Kalyan Venkatesh have submitted and innovative project on Internet Banking System. The winning project has attempted to make online banking transactions simpler and more and more safer.

Krishna and Venkatesh are final year Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) students at KMIT. The students opined that their model of internet banking system is very easy to navigate and more user-friendly. They have proposed that the Internet banking will see a big growth if bank websites were available in the local languages.

The runners up position in the contest was shared by the student team from KL University, Vijayawada and the Madras Institute of Technology, Chennai. The KL University team has been selected for their project on knowledge-based community sharing system and the Chennai team was selected for their project ‘Chess Master' which is based on Human Computer Interaction (HCI). The Great Mind Challenge o IBM India has been recognized by The Limca Book of Records. It is India's largest technology contest for students every year. The contest was launched in 2004 by IBM India.
