Osmania Faculty of Social Sciences - UG, PG and Diploma Programmes

Faculty of Social Sciences, Osmania University, Hyderabad (Andhra Pradesh) is offering various Under Graduate, Post Graduate and PG Diploma programmes in the discipline of Social Sciences. OU conducts separate entrance tests for all subjects and courses with the name of OUPGCET or OUCET. Admission notification for most of the courses will be announced during February - March every year. Following are details of programmes, duration, eligibility and application procedure:

Under Graduate Courses:

1) B.A.: Duration is 3 years. Applicants should have passed in 2 year Intermediate Course or +2 Examination. Admission will be done directly by the respective colleges based on merit and as per the rules of the Osmania University.

2) B.S.W. (Bachelor of Social Work): Duration is 3 years. Candidates should have passed in 2-year Intermediate or +2 Examination. They should have secured at least 40 percent marks. Pass marks are enough for SC and ST candidates. Admission will be through an Aptitude Test conducted by the respective college.

Post Graduate Courses: Selection of the candidates to all post graduate courses will be through an Entrance Test of objective multiple choice type conducted by Osmania University.

1) M.A.: Subjects offered are Economics, History, Political Science and Public Administration. Eligibility: Candidates should have passed in Degree Examination securing minimum 40 percent marks in part II and must studied the concerned subject as one of the optional subject in Degree.
2) Sociology: Eligibility is A pass in B.A./B.Sc./ B.Com with minimum 40 percent marks in part II.
3) Psychology: Candidates need at least 40 percent marks in part - II with Psychology as an optional
at B.A./ BMR, M.Ed./ M.A.(Education)/ M.Sc.(Home Science)/ Diploma in Child Psychology or Industrial Psychology.
3) M.S.W.: Duration is two years; Any Graduate with minimum 40 percent marks in Part II are eligible.
4) B.Li.Sc.: Duration is one year. Applicants should have passed in B.A/ B.Sc./ B.Com with minimum 40 percent marks under Part-II.
5) M.Li.Sc.: Duration is one year: Eligibility is A pass in BLISc / PGD in Library Science with 40 percent marks.

PG Diploma Courses:

1) PG Diploma in Child Psychology: Duration is one year. Women candidates who have passed Degree in any discipline are eligible.

2) PG Diploma in Rehabilitation Psychology: Duration is two years. Candidates should have passed M.A/ M.Sc in Psychology with minimum 55 percent marks. Relaxations apply.

3) PG Diploma in Early Intervention: Duration is one year. Applicants should have passed in MBBS, BMR or BRS (MR) B.Ed in Special Education, Masters’ in Child Development, Bachelor’s in Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Speech Therapy, Masters’ in Child Psychology with minimum 50 percent marks.

4) PG Diploma in Developmental Rehabilitation: Duration is one year. Applicants should have passed in Degree Examination of Osmania University with PG Diploma in Child Psychology and MBBS.

5) PG Diploma in Psychological Counseling: Duration is one year. Candidates should have passed in BA (Psychology) / B.Ed. / M.Sc. (Home Science) / M.Ed. / MA (Psychology) / B.Sc. (Nursing) / MSW / B.Sc. (Home Science) / BSW / Degree in Rehabilitation Psychology / Medicine / Law / PG Diploma in Marriage & Family Counseling / Degree in Physiotherapy / PG Diploma in Child Psychology / PG Diploma in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations OR Any other equivalent course.
