Osmania University PG Diploma Courses in Languages

Osmania University, Hyderabad is one of the oldest and highly reputed universities in Andhra Pradesh and India. Apart from mainstream courses such as Post Graduation (M.A., M.Com and M.Sc.), Research Programmes, OU also offer various Diploma, Post Graduate Diploma and Advanced Diploma courses. Osmania University releases notification for these programmes along with its PGCET and also conducts separate entrance exams for various other diploma programmes. Following are details of these programmes such as eligibility and selection procedure:

1) PG Diploma in Urdu Paleography: Duration is one year. Applicants should have passed in M.A in Urdu
OR M.A (Languages) Urdu with 50 percent marks.

2) PG Diploma in Applied Linguistics: Duration is one year. Candidates should have passed in PG Degree in
any Language / Literature OR should have M.Sc. in Hearing Language and Speech OR any other related subject which offers any one of the branches (theoretical or applied) of Linguistics as one of the papers.

3) PG Diploma in Functional Hindi and Translation: Duration is one year. Candidates should have passed in M.A. Hindi OR in any language and having Hindi either as optional or as language at degree level.

4) PG Diploma in Museology: Duration is one year. Eligibility for fresh candidates is a pass in MA (AIHC and A) with at least 50 percent marks with Museology as a subject of study OR a pass in MA History with Medieval History paper as specialization with 50 percent marks. Eligibility for in-service candidates is a pass in Bachelor Degree with minimum 3 years relevant experience in museums.

5) PG Diploma in Archival Science and Manuscriptology: Duration is one year. Eligibility: Fresh candidates should have passed in MA (AIHCA)/ MA (History) / MA (Indian Culture) with a minimum of 50 percent aggregate marks. In-service candidates should have passed in Bachelor Degree with minimum 3 years relevant experience in Achieves or Record rooms and libraries.

6) Junior Diploma in French / German / Russian: Duration is one year. Candidates should have passed in Intermediate or its equivalent.

7) Senior Diploma in French, German, Russian: Duration is one year. Applicants should have passed in Junior Diploma in the concerned foreign language securing at least 50 percent marks OR as second language at Graduation
level in the concerned foreign language.

8) Advanced Diploma in French, German, Russian: Duration is one year. Applicants should have passed in Senior Diploma in the concerned foreign language with minimum 50 percent marks.

9) Junior Diploma in Modern Arabic, Persian: Duration is one year. Candidates should have passed in intermediate or its equivalent examination / PDC and Fazil candidates also eligible.

Selection of the candidates to all the above mentioned programmes will be through an Entrance Test conducted by Osmania University. For admission into Special and Advanced Diploma programmes in Foreign Languages, candidates have to appear for special entrance tests conducted by the University.
