Faculty of Education - Osmania University

Faculty of Education, Osmania University is offering various courses in Under Graduate, Post Graduate, PG Diploma and Research levels. Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) and Master of Education (M.Ed) are the most popular courses of the faculty of education. There are courses in the category of special education. Following are details of various programmes offered by Faculty of Education of OU:

1) B.Ed: Duration is one year. Applicants should have passed in degree examination in any discipline such as BA, B.Sc, B.Com, B.Sc (Home Science), BCA.and BBM with at least 45 percent marks and above in Part II (Group subjects). Candidates with professional qualifications such as B.E, B.Tech, MBBS, BVSc., BHMT, B.Pharmacy and such other professional courses are not eligible. Admission will be conducted through Ed.Cet ranks.

2) B.Ed. Special Education (MR - Mentally Retarded): Duration is one year. Candidates who have passed BMR or BRS (MR), B.Sc., B.A., B.Com or equivalent examination are eligible. They should have secured at least 50 percent marks. Selection of the candidates will be through entrance test conducted by O.U and also followed by counseling or interview.

3) B.Ed.Sp.Edn.(Hearing Impaired): Duration of the course is one year. Candidates who have passed B.Sc. or B.A. with minimum 50 percent marks are eligible to apply.

4) UGD.P.Ed.: Duration is 2 years. Applicants should have passed in Intermediate Examinations. Admission will be based on ranks in PECET conducted by APSCHE.

5) B.P.Ed.: Duration is one year. Candidates should have passed in degree from any discipline.

6) M.Ed: This is a one year course. Applicants should have passed in B.Ed. Degree and selection will be through Entrance Test conducted by OU.

7) M.Ed. Special Education (Mentally Retarded): Applicants should have passed in B.Ed. special education (MR) of Osmania University or any other university. Candidates with a pass in B.Ed.(General) course and one year Diploma course in Special Education (Mental
Retardation) recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India are also eligible.

8) M.P.Ed: Duration is two years. Applicants should have passed in B.P.Ed.examination of
OU or its equivalent. Selection will be through an Entrance Test conducted by OU.

9) PG Diploma in Early Childhood Education: Duration is one year. Applicants should have passed in Degree Examination and admission will be through merit in Graduation.

10) M.Phil (Education): Candidates must have passed Master’s Degree in the concerned subject and should have secured minimum 55 percent marks. This is a full time course and candidates have to work for a period of one year as a full time research scholar.

11) Ph.D. (Education): Duration of the full time programme is 3 years and part time course is 4 years. Applicants should have Master’s degree in the concerned subject with minimum 55 percent marks OR should have M.Phil in concerned subject OR must have qualified in the UGC-CSIR / NET GATE examination or SLET of Govt. of AP.
