1) M.A. Philosophy: This is a two year programme. The basic and advanced level papers will be taught in this programme. Advanced courses in Nyaya and Buddhism, Political Philosophy, Philosophy of Language, Philosophy of Science, Wittgenstein, Philosophy of Art are also offered in M.A. course.
2) M.Phil (Philosophy): Duration is one year. The main focus of this programme is inculcating research orientation in the students through testing aptitude for independent research. There will be both course work and dissertation. Candidates have to choose contemporary research topics in the field of Philosophy. The department encourages interdisciplinary research.
3) Ph.D. Programme in Philosophy: This is original and full fledged research programme. Candidates with interest in interdisciplinary topics of philosophy will be given priority. The programme consists of course work and research thesis.
Entrance Examinations: The written entrance examination for admission to M.A, M.Phil, and Ph.D. programmes will have two parts. These are Part A and Part B. Part A consists of 25 objective multiple choice type questions of one mark each. Part B contains questions for 75 marks for M.A., and 50 marks for M.Phil. and Ph.D. courses. Part - B consists of short and long essay type questions. For M.Phil. and Ph.D. programmes, there will be an oral test for 25 marks for those qualified in written exam. University of Hyderabad announces admission notification during March - April every year. Candidates can obtain previous question papers from the university library.
