GATE 2013 Notification, Eligibility, Imp Dates and Online Application

GATE 2013 (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) notification has been released by IIT Bombay. GATE is an important academic competitive examination for admission to M.Tech in IITs and other AICTE approved Engineering Colleges. The admission to ME/ M.Tech in Engineering Courses in IITs, NITs and several other Deemed Universities and colleges for the academic year 2013-14 will be through GATE 2013. Following are details of eligibility, changes in GATE 2013, online test papers and application procedure:

Eligibility: B.E./ B.Tech . in Engineering / Technology/ Architecture. Candidates in final or pre-final year also eligible to apply. OR PG in Mathematics/ Science/ Statistics/ Computer Applications and those in final or pre-final year of these degrees also eligible. OR 2nd or higher year of 4 year Integrated courses and 3rd and above years in 5 years Integrated Masters programs and Dual Degree students also can apply.

GATE 2013 will be conducted in the following papers: Physics / Mechanical Engineering / Mining Engineering/ Mathematics / Agricultural Engineering / Engineering Sciences/ Civil Engineering/ Instrumentation Engineering / Computer Science and Information Technology / Aerospace Engineering / Electrical Engineering / Geology and Geophysics / Biotechnology / Chemistry / Architecture and Planning / Production and Industrial Engineering/ Chemical Engineering / Electronics and Communication Engineering / Textile Engineering and Fibre Science / Metallurgical Engineering / Life Sciences.

Application Procedure: Candidates can apply online or offline for GATE 2013. To apply online, candidates have to pay the fee first and later login to the GATE 2013 website. To apply offline, you need to purchase application form from IIT Zonal Offices or Designated Bank Branches across India and have to send completed applications (online or offline) along with all relevant copies of certificates to respective Zonal Offices on or before prescribed date.

GATE 2013 Examination will consist of 65 Objective Multiple Choice Questions (except AE and TF papers) with 3 hours duration for a maximum of 100 marks. There will be negative marking for wrong answers. GATE 2013 paper shall have General Aptitude (GA) section carrying 15 marks. This is common for all candidates.

Important dates:

1. Commencement of online application form submission: 1st September 2012
2. Last date for submission of online applications: 30th October 2012
3. Last date for the receipt of completed offline / online application forms: 8th October 2011.
4. GATE 2013 Online Examination: 20th January 2013
5. GATE 2012 Online Examination : 10th February 2012.
6. Announcement of GATE 2012 Results: 15th March 2013.
