The IIT Entrance examination has been made a two stage process. Candidates have to appear for JEE Main Examination initially. This will be conducted in online and offline mode. 1.5 lakh candidates from the JEE Main exam will be allowed to sit for JEE Advanced examination. JEE Advanced will be held in offline mode only.
IITs will also take the Intermediate / 10+2 marks of the students and consider only top 20 candidates along with their JEE Advanced scores / ranks for admission. In this process, 40 percent weightage will be given for Intermediate marks and remaining weightage will be accorded for JEE Advanced exam.
There will be two question papers in the JEE Advanced examination. Each paper will have Physics, Chemistry and Maths questions. Duration of the each test is three hours. There will be no AIEEE and IIT JEE examinations from the year 2013-14. The new JEE examination is likely to be tougher than the previous examination.
