IPE Junior Inter Chemistry Exam Plan - Organic Chemistry and Elements

S block elements: In "S block elements", oxidation state of K in KO2, para magnetic nature of KO2, problems 9.4, 9.5, abnormal density in alkali metals, addition of gypsum to cement, non availability of alkali metals in free state, amphoteric nature of Be(OH)2, Anomalous behaviour of Be & diagonal relation with Al, burning of Mg in air, importance & setting of plaster of paris, dead burnt plaster, are important for 2 marks.

Preparation of washing soda by Solvay's process, NaOH by Castner - Kellner process, short note on cement,
Biological importance of Na, K, Mg & Ca are very important for 4 marks.

Group 13 Elements

In this lesson, inert pair effect, non formation of BF6 −3 by B, Borax (preparation, properties, structure), Borazine (structure, common name, hybridization), structure of boric acid and AlCl3, electron deficient compounds,
Formulae of Borax & Colemanite are important for 2 marks.

Preparation, properties, structure of Diborane, Borax bead test with suitable examples, Q.No: 26 are important for 4 marks.

Group-14 Elements

In ''group-14 elements'' lesson, classification of oxides, allotropy, catenation, problems 11.2, 11.3, 11.4, Q.No.: 4, 5, 6, 10, 11, 13, 14, 17, 22, 23, 26, 34 (d), 42 are important 2 marks questions. Structure and properties of diamond and graphite, short note on silicate, zeolites, fullerenes are very important for 4 marks.

Organic Chemistry Some Basic Principles & Techniques

Probable weightage (highest in 1st year chemistry) of "Organic Chemistry- some basic principles and techniques" lesson is 10 marks. Those who learn 1st year Organic chemistry well can do the best in 2nd year Organic chemistry.

Learn IUPAC nomenclature of organic compounds and remember trivial names of some of the compounds.
Qualitative & Quantitative analysis, all types of isomerism, types of electron displacements, o, p, m directing groups, conformers of C2H6, preparation & chemical properties of Alkanes, Alkens, Alkynes and Benzene
are very important areas.

For 2 marks: Learn 13.1, 13.2, 13.4, 13.5, 13.6, 13.7, 13.8, 13.10, 13.12, 13.19, 13.20 to 25, 13.30, 13.34, 13.36, 13.38, IUPAC nomenclature, VSAQ. No.: 1 to 8, 27.

For 4 marks: Learn Q.No: 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 32, 37, 39, 42, 43, 49, 57, 59.
For 8 marks: Learn 3 preparations & all 5 properties of C6H6, 2 preparations & all 5 properties of alkynes, 4 prep. & all 8 prop. of alkenes (including Markovnikov addition, Kharash effect).

Learning mechanisms, reason & application type of questions not only help in scoring IPE, but also JEE (Main) like exams. Wish you 100% success.

Environmental Chemistry

In "Environmental Chemistry" lesson, two 2 marks questions are appearing in every year exams. Mention the 2 names of green chemists who won the Nobel prize in 2005, Explain the terms TLV, BOD (and values of clean and polluted water), COD, Sink, Pollutant, Contaminant, Green house effect, (def., gases, causes, harmful effects), ozone depletion (def., causes, ill effects, where was it first observed), Acid rains (def., causes, pH, gases causing acid rains, harmful effects).
